Lightning Bolt
Supported by Primitive Calculators, Grey Daturas and Naked on the Vague.
I generally have pretty bad luck taping Naked on the Vague, but this however is probably one of the best recordings I've ever done, helped in large part by NoTV being fuck-awesome. They sound absolutely huge.
Setlist
These Days
Treading Water
Sacred Youth
Wrong Room
Abstract Figures
Black Lettuce
Naked on the Vague - Manning Bar, Sydney, 21/11/2009 - 45.1mb - 30 minutes
Last ever Sydney show by Grey Daturas. They were awesome, hearing it out of a huge PA was great as well.
Grey Daturas - Manning Bar, Sydney, 21/11/2009 - 44.4mb - 32 minutes
First Primitive Calculators show in Sydney in 30 years. Man what a night. But yeah, these guys were so into it, it was awesome, was great to finally see them. If you're downloading this you know what to expect. Wish I taped the sound check though.
Primitive Calculators - Manning Bar, Sydney, 21/11/2009 - 34.1mb - 23 minutes
Lightning Bolt. Jesus Christ. So I tried recording these guys from the second row so it clips every now and then but overall, I am very happy with how the sound turned out for this. I had a fucking great time at this show, and yes it was loud, not that I realised until it was over and everyone that spoke to me sounded like they had distortion on their voice. Because of the set up basically the left channel is all bass and the right channel is all drums. Also about 20 mins into it all my gear gets unplugged and stays unplugged for about 20 mins, so basically I'm putting up what survived of the recording. Can't wait for tonight.
Also I think I included the soundcheck at the start. I don't know I just assumed it was a song I didn't know. A pretty bad one at that.
Lightning Bolt - Manning Bar, Sydney, 21/11/2009 - 51.1mb - 38 minutes

Gold Shoulder Friday #2
Featuring The Stabs, Witch Hats and Ghosts of Television.
More music for the launch of the new Mountain Fold Music Journal.
My first listenable recording of Ghosts of Television. They are basically one of the best bands in Sydney and this set was really awesome, sound is a bit iffy at times but you know, who cares?
Setlist (Stolen from here.)
New Flesh
Hezbollah
Arthritis
Topsoil
Empty Thrones
Coelacanth
Buzzrd
Ghosts of Television - GoodGod Small Club, Sydney, 20/11/2009 - 40.4mb - 28 minutes
I don't think I "get" Witch Hats. Was weird that they had the longest set of all but yeah, I dunno I was kinda bored, the drummer is amazing though.
Witch Hats - GoodGod Small Club, Sydney, 20/11/2009 - 62.4mb - 44 minutes
I'm pretty sure I walked in during the Stabs first song, not too sure. But yeah, this was no where near long enough but seriously, Stabs, way to make everyone in Sydney look like a bunch of amateurs. Killer set.
The Stabs - GoodGod Small Club, Sydney, 20/11/2009 - 48.4 - 34 minutes
Basically it was so hot in La Campana that all my gear started to fall apart, yes it's all held together by tape, but still, I don't know how shits gonna go in the future if this is happening.

Gold Shoulder Friday #1
Featuring Naked on the Vague, Free Choice Duo and Bed Wettin' Bad Boys.
Only taped Naked on the Vague at this show. They were awesome, really dig the two new songs. You all know what they sound like and what to expect, can't really hear the vocals for the first half.
Naked on the Vague - GoodGod Small Club, Sydney, 13/11/2009 - 50mb - 34 minutes

Man, Intentions, just fucken download it. It's not the best sound but they're just so damn excellent.
I think I've written enough about Bare Arms. You know how I feel. Probably the longest set I've seen them play, once again, sound at the best but it's still Bare Arms.
La Quiete. Come back soon, again.

Halloween with La Quiete
Supported by Crux, Holy Samolly, When Chimps Attack and Independent Thought Alarm.
I have seen Holy Samolly 3 times in the past 3 days and they're pretty great. Sam from Quebecs new band.
Independent Thought Alarm are great. So so great. Pretty sure this was their first show, they did a cover of P-Power by Nation of Ulysses so they're cool by me.
When Chimps Attack were next, had I known this was gonna be their last show ever I would have made so much more effort yesterday, hadn't seen these guys in years but they were awesome. Pretty sure you can hear little kids running around the entire set.

Holy Samolly - Hellen Rose-Shauersberger Laboratorium, Sydney, 31/10/2009 - 26mb - 21 minutes
I'm pretty sure this is Crux's final run of shows which is a real shame because they've always been so great, so enjoy.
Crux - Hellen Rose-Shauersberger Laboratorium, Sydney, 31/10/2009 - 48mb - 33 minutes
So yeah, La Quiete came back, who would have thought. No words, just so awesome. So so awesome. Cannot wait for the show at Jura Books, you're all gonna be there right? It's freaking La Quiete man you have to.

To the North 12" Launch
Supported by Bare Arms, Vera, Holy Samolly and When Chimps Attack.
Had I known When Chimps Attack were on first I would have shown up earlier and taped them.
Had I known Holy Samolly were playing at all I would have been in the room and taped them (last song was great though).
Had I known Vera were a powerviolence band I would have stayed outside.
I knew Bare Arms were awesome so I taped them.
Bare Arms - Sandringham Hotel, Sydney, 30/10/2009 - 24mb - 20 minutes
Absolute ripper by To the North, probably the longest I've seen them play and through a proper PA for once, the sound is great and the performance was even better.
To the North - Sandringham Hotel, Sydney, 30/10/2009 - 48mb - 32 minutes
