High Places

Supported by Beaches and supporting Dan Deacon.

I didn't record any one else during the night but High Places are pretty damn fun live. The girl is a babe and the night over all was a lot of fun. This was a part of Summertones. Once the music actually starts it gets louder.

Nine Inch Nails

Supported by Jaguar Love.

Right before this show I started getting bummed out because I thought I was wasting my money having seen Nine Inch Nails so many times that I thought there was nothing new they could show me. I was wrong, completely blown away. The Fail/The Wretched intro was awesome and it was so good to hear The Line Begins to Blur being included again.

The power cut out during the intro of Burn, apparently for half of Fox Studios, and we were left in silence and without Air Con for quite some time (53 minutes according to the recording.) But lucky for you I did not include all this. All you’re missing out on is not being able to hear Trent on a megaphone, and the crowd doing their own covers of Bohemian Rhapsody. During this period the band went around handing out water and when they finally started again, claimed they would not being playing a minute less, though the venue turned the house lights on before they even left the stage preventing their encore. But when they started up the show again, absolutely no momentum was lost and they fucking rocked it as if nothing had happened.

Can’t wait to see them 3 more times.

Jaguar Love killed it as a support act, Johnny’s vocals are so amazing live. But in true KMW style they started very early and was too late for me to record. The new set up for their band is great though.

Put your headphones on and turn it up.

Soundwave 2009

I took a break from recording and returned for Soundwave.

I ended up missing two bands I wanted to see because of the obscene line to get in, but overall this was a huge improvement on last years.

Saw Saves the Day first, quite enjoyable. Mainly went to record for a friend.

Saves the Day - Soundwave, Sydney, 22/02/2009 - 46.5mb - 39 minutes

Minus the Bear are easily one of my favourite bands, a bummer they got relegated to such a small stage at such an hour, but the set was so awesome. And they played Thanks for the Killer Game of Crisco Twister! Bummer that a fuck up at work made me miss their side show with Jaguar Love (Whose original plan was for me to see and record them 3 times but only ended up seeing them half of once.)

I had no plans on seeing Alice in Chains but I ended up there and was totally blown away, William DuVall fucking killed it and I ended up know every word to every song. Solid performance.

Alice in Chains - Soundwave, Sydney, 22/02/2009 - 76.6mb - 1 hour 2 minutes

Angry music to play on your tambourine. Fucking awesome performance, ballsy set list for a festival. Only time I’ve ever seen Nine Inch Nails play an encore so that was weird. Can barely hear the bass. More in depth discussion of NIN in their next recording.
