The Drones.

Supported by the Holy Soul.

I don't know why the Drones are touring but it was a damn fine show, strange as hell set list was really heavy on old stuff, after last tours playing all but one song off Havilah. But the strange part was the show ended up being an incredibly aggressive one. Stage banter from Gareth was genius as usual.

Setlist
Jezebel
Nail it Down
The Minotaur
The Freedom in the Loot
Hell and Heydevils
Sharkfin Blues
Six Ways to Sunday
She Had an Abortion That She Made Me Pay For
The Miller's Daughter

Ghosts of Television at the Annandale Hotel

Supporting the Laurels and Love of Diagrams.

I only got time to see Ghosts of Television before I went off to go see Al Green play in the city. Worth it though, awesome awesome set, probably the best sound I've got of them.

Thee Oh Sees at the Annandale Hotel

With Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Royal Headache and Straight Arrows.

I'm sure you guys have noticed the immense amount of trouble I've been having lately and how much of a hassle this blog has become, but only Thee Oh Sees survived this night, no band before or after. Which is lucky though because Thee Oh Sees totally ruined everyone else's shit. They were amazing.

Thee Oh Sees - Annandale Hotel, Sydney, 03/12/2009 - 56.6mb - 40 minutes

Took me ages to fix everything so I wasn't able to grab them again on Saturday, but they were just as good despite playing at like... 9:30 or whatever. Will give it a shot at Meredith this weekend.

Pretty standard Dead Farmers fare, they were fahking awesome.

Dead Farmers - Annandale Hotel, Sydney, 17/09/2009 - 29 minutes - 32.6mb

I know I had a bit of a bitch and moan about Love of Diagrams being boring last show, but they were genuinely great this time, new songs as well as jamming out on the end of others worked really well. Show ends pretty suddenly and I had to leave during the encore to get my train.

Deerhunter

Set was awesome, no idea how it was last time but it turned into this awesome request fest and they played an absolutely unexpected set list. Bummer I could barely keep myself from collapsing the entire time.

Also got to chill with some cool dudes and meet a reminder!

I collapsed through the door after the show at 2am last night and slept immediately. I only just woke up. I believe this is jet lag.

Jim Ward Quiet EP Tour

Supported by Like... Alaska and One Small Step for Landmines.

Direct quote from my tumblr:

When I saw Jim Ward earlier this year at the incredble shambles that was Soundwave on top of a hill at sun set, the only thing I could think of is that I will never see anything like this again, let alone Jim Ward without a band. 10 months later and he’s back for some reason and it’s awesome. He played all his Quiet EP songs, most of Sleepercar and 4 Sparta songs: Breaking the Broken, Collapse, Air and Without a Sound.

He had the mad shakes throughout the show though. Don’t quite know what that was about. If it was just nerves or if there’s something more to that, but it was odd to see.

The volume in this is extremely low, the mix on the night was already quiet and I recorded it at the time with minimal gain, I’ve already added way too much gain to it afterwards and don’t feel as if I could put more on it. Sorry but turn your speakers quite a bit up
